Indigo and natural striped smock or dress made by The M.C. Lilley & Co. out of Columbus, Ohio. M.C. Lilley & Co. was one of the largest manufacturers of military and fraternal order uniforms and goods. This is manufactured out of heavy cotton indigo and natural ticking-style fabric. We were able to find a lot of information about the uniforms produced by M.C. Lilley, but were not able to find this specific piece. Based on the label and similar pieces in their catalog, we believe this to be 1900-1920. The overall condition is very good with very minor signs of wear. The only flaws we were able to find are a small rust stain on the bottom left and one of the three clasps on the “skirt” is missing. A small section of the seam on the left shoulder is slightly separated, however, it is still held together and wearable.
